Ein bukk te ska eg skjøte, så er det farvel og takk. Nei da, så ille er det kanskje ikke, men som svoren Hellbillies-fan faller jeg lett for fristelsen til å sitere en av deres sanger. Hellbillies-katalogen er min Bibel. Jeg har aldri skutt noen bukk. Jeg har skrevet noen blogginnlegg opp gjennom årene og nå skal det i det minste bli ett til. Dette er en julefortelling. Litt annerledes julefortelling. Men det er en fortelling om tro, håp og kjærlighet. Opptakten til jula ble annerledes for meg enn forventet. Det ble mistenkt hjerneslag, og enkelte hvisket om mulig Alzheimer. Begge deler viste seg å være feil.
Den brutale sannhet er at et monster har tatt bolig i hodet mitt. Foreløpig har dette monsteret ikke noe annet navn enn hjernekreft. Hvordan dette skal gå i fortsettelsen bruker jeg foreløpig lite krefter på. Det jeg har vært nødt til å bruke en smule krefter på, er å få drifta på småbruket til å gå sin gang. Med hjelp av heroisk og oppofrende innsats fra familien har det gått noenlunde på skinner. Dyrene er tatt hånd om på aller beste vis. Men det kaoset som oppsto da utgjødslingssystemet både frøs og kollapset var nok ikke mine barn forberedt på. Redningen ble gode kolleger. De har et navn, Jens Karsten og Bendik fra tradisjonsrike Thingstad gård i Gutvik, samt myteomspunne Morten Ulrichsen. De sto på som helter i kulde, søle og dritt – og fikk det hele opp og gå igjen. Hvis ikke det er omsorg, vet ikke jeg hva omsorg er.
Jeg har også fått så mye omsorg, omtanke, vennlighet og praktisk hjelp at jeg aldri noensinne vil ha mulighet til å gjengjelde. Musikkvenner fra Sør-Helgeland tok seg tid midt i travleste juleinnspurten og kom og spilte og sang den vakreste julemusikk jeg kan tenke meg, rundt kjøkkenbordet over et godt måltid. Dyrlege Siv, som slutter hos oss nå, kom med hjemmebakst, gode ord og rause mengder trøst. Frivilligheten i bygda, som står meg så nært, har også vært støttende. Alle skulle fått oppleve Kristines fiolinspill med julemusikk. Merete, min kjære venninne, som dukker opp, går tur med meg og bygger meg opp med samtaler man knapt kunne håpe er mulig å ha.
Jeg får også en jevn strøm av oppmuntringer, trøst og gode ord fra fjern og nær i alle kanaler. Det finnes så mye godhet, kjærlighet og velvilje der ute at det for meg er et mysterium at det finnes så mye urett i verden. Hadde man fordelt alt det gode, så er jeg helt sikker på at urett og nød lett hadde latt seg utrydde. «Finnes her nød og sult, skyldes det svik». Dette tror jeg salige Nordahl Grieg hadde helt rett i.
Den som måtte tro at jeg kommer med dette blogginnlegget uten malurten klar og sleivsparkene rede, tar skammelig feil. Med min bakgrunn som småbruker og et nokså ressursfattig gårdsbruk, jeg har brukt hele livet på matproduksjon, dette er nå under nedtrapping av naturlige årsaker.
Min store bekymring er at de hardt arbeidende praktikerne som utgjør en viktig byggestein i utallige velfungerende bygdesamfunn rundt i vårt kjære land i større og større antall gir opp. De nevnte bygdesamfunn utgjør en fundamental og umistelig verdi for storsamfunnet. Skal vi klare å bevare dette for framtida må matprodusentene få rettferdige vilkår.
Derfor ble det nesten personlig for meg da det på slutten av året ble klart at høyrekreftene i samfunnet fant det opportunt å foreslå å svekke matprodusentenes allerede for svake vilkår.
